THE WORLD HAS CHANGED ME- Guest Blog Entry
I joined Habitat for Humanity's Global Village in 1996 because I wanted to see the world and maybe leave it a little better than I found it. What I have discovered is that the world is leaving me a little better than when I arrived. I now understand what Amelia Earhart meant when she said "I think about the hands I've held. The places I've seen. The vast lands whose dirt is caked on the bottom of my shoes. The world has changed me."
Most recently I've done several builds in Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, India and done Carter work projects throughout the US including Alabama and my most significant Habitat memory is from my first Global Village build in Alaska, I was assigned to the roofing team. It was hard work, a lot of lifting and then hours spent on my knees nailing the shingles to the frame...
