As you plan for your future and reflect on the legacy you will leave behind, a meaningful way to make a lasting impact is a legacy gift to support families in need of a safe and affordable home. 

 

Make a Gift Through Your Will or Living Trust

One simple and flexible way to ensure that your legacy of empowerment continues for years to come is by making a gift in your will or living trust, known as a charitable bequest. You may share the suggested language below with your attorney: 

“I hereby give and bequeath ___% [or $_________] of my estate to Austin Habitat for Humanity (Federal Tax ID# 74-2373217) to be used in the areas of greatest need as the board of directors may determine.” 

Beneficiary Designation for your IRA or Financial Account 

A meaningful way to include Austin Habitat for Humanity in your legacy planning is by naming Austin Habitat as a beneficiary to your retirement plan, IRA, life insurance policy, or other financial account.

Create Your Free Will Online

To help you get started on your plans and legacy, Austin Habitat for Humanity has partnered with FreeWill, an online tool that guides you through the process of creating a legally valid will or trust. It’s easy to use, accessible online and can be completed in 20 minutes. You can use this resource on its own or use it to document your wishes before finalizing your plans with an attorney.

Non-probate Assets

Do you have an IRA, 401(k), life-insurance policy, or any other assets not included in your will? If so, these are called non-probate assets and you must plan your beneficiaries for them separately. Use this online tool to make your plans and designate Austin Habitat for Humanity as a beneficiary of one or more of these assets.
