We build and repair homes almost exclusively with volunteer labor.
Whether you’re a skilled craftsperson or you’ve never picked up a hammer, building with Austin Habitat is a life-changing experience both for you and our homeowners.
Sponsor a project, bring a group, or come on your own. We can’t do it without you!
Volunteer as an Individual
Volunteer with a Group
You don’t have to be part of a group or team to volunteer with Austin Habitat. Each individual volunteer plays an essential role in achieving our mission of building homes, communities and hope. Join our team of more than 11,000 volunteers that help us build and repair homes, strengthen and revitalize communities, and support a more sustainable environment. Check out our Volunteer Calendar to choose the project that interests you most, sign a waiver online, and register to volunteer. We can always use another set of hands!
Do you need to complete mandated community service? Mandated volunteer hours can be fulfilled at our ReStore.
Volunteering as a group is a great team-building activity. For groups of 5 or more people, check out our Group Volunteering page to learn more and sign up. See where you can volunteer on our Where We Build page.
Austin Habitat is proud to provide opportunities for our future leaders to learn and engage in community-building activities. Due to safety concerns and child labor laws, children under 16 are not allowed on active construction sites, but there are still plenty of ways for them to get involved with Austin Habitat’s mission. Check out our Youth Volunteering page for more information.
Habitat homes are built through the generosity of our donors and volunteers. The building materials are purchased with financial support from corporate, community, and faith-based partners. As a sponsor, your team or corporation gets priority in volunteer scheduling. See Corporate Partnerships or Faith Partnerships for more information.
