Austin Native and Real Estate Powerhouse Heather Hudson Shares What Compels Her to Support Austin Habitat’s Women Build
Q: Why did your organization support the 2022 Austin Habitat for Humanity Woman Build?
A: I founded my brokerage on the principle of being made up of agents who were Austin natives and strong, hard-working women. Being in the real estate industry and a native of Austin who has witnessed the changes in my hometown, I feel compelled to help because it is such a perfect match with my everyday work and life principals.
Q: How do you and your organization empower women in the Austin community?
A: Initiatives like this are a great opportunity for me to reach out to clients, friends, neighbors, and family and get them involved in women-led programs and events.

Q: Why is supporting affordable housing organizations in our community important to you?
A: Being a Native Austinite, I have seen this city grow from a small hippy college town to a thriving tech hub with a thriving urban core. Unfortunately, that means I have also seen the impact of such a change on a city. Home values increase with increased demand, and when affordability becomes a problem, we see an increase in homelessness. That breaks my heart, especially when there are hard-working families or single parents out there doing their best to make ends meet. This is why I believe so strongly in the Austin Habitat Women Build initiative and why I have been a Habitat supporter for over 24 years.
Q: What does home mean to you?
A: Home means a place for my family to sit around a table sharing the day’s events, a bed for each of us to lay our head down on every night, a roof to shelter us from the weather, and a community in which to be part of.
