Grifols’ Marceline Verette Understands and Promotes Encouragement and Open Communication

May 25, 2021

Q: What advice did you receive when you were starting your career?

A: The advice I recall as the most valuable is two-fold:  First, it is important to not only understand what to do but why it needs to be done. Secondly, that open communication is paramount to working as an effective team.

Q: What does women empowerment mean to you?

A: To me, women empowerment means gaining or providing the appropriate tools to achieve your goals.  It is my belief that anyone can accomplish great things with determination, knowledge, a positive attitude, and the right skills.  We can empower ourselves and others.

Q: How do you empower women in our community?

A: I do my best to give encouragement and support. I may visit a business to provide financial support for their hard work or take time to help a friend shut down that little inner voice of negativity.  Professionally, I provide employees with guidance, information, and opportunities to gain experience. It is a joy to acknowledge and celebrate their successes, thus continuing to build confidence in their abilities. I enjoy being a resource and role model to young women as they consider all of the possible career paths available to them.

Q: Who inspires you to be the best woman you can be?

A: My maternal Grandmother was a rebel for her time.  Although she was denied a formal education and support by her family, her determination to learn an employable skill, become independent, and follow her heart inspires me to never give up on a goal.

Q: Tell me of a time where women came together to help you achieve a goal?

A: Most recently, during the extreme winter storms in February, my female associates were indispensable. We not only worked together with our colleges to coordinate the laboratory’s quick return to service, but the women sustained me through overwhelming, stressful days. Their companionship and humor enabled me to provide steady support to my team.
