According to Philanthropist Kendra Scott, When You Invest in Women, You Change the World
Q: Why did your organization support the 2022 Austin Habitat for Humanity Woman Build?
A: I have been fortunate enough to work with Habitat for Humanity over the past five years. The work they’re doing is remarkable, not only for individual families but for our community as a whole. Kendra Scott is in the business of spreading joy, and this Women’s Build is a wonderful opportunity to create magic for others and within our own team. It is just one example of how we live out our core pillars of family, fashion and philanthropy.
Q: How do you and your organization empower women in the Austin community?
A: Every Kendra Scott purchase empowers women and youth, always. The idea of giving back isn’t just a practice, it’s a passion. It is in our DNA and woven into everything that we do. From our Home and Shelter Charm and in-store give-back events to the Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute at The University of Texas at Austin and Dell Children’s Hospital, we are showing up and supporting this community. We believe in it and in our impact. When you invest in women, you change the world.

Q: Why is giving back to affordable housing organizations in our community important to you?
A: Housing is one of the best predictors of community health. Everyone deserves a warm, safe place to call home. When the financial burden of a mortgage is covered or drastically reduced, it means more resources can be allotted to healthcare, education, and transportation. That can be life-changing to a family.
Q: What does home mean to you?
A: As cliché as it sounds, home is where the heart is, and mine is with my family. Home is about love and safety, laughter and rest. To me, home is more about who than what. It is time with my boys, a place where I can reflect and dream, a place where I can cook for friends and toast to the ones I love. Home is everything.
