A+ Federal Credit Union’s Eric Kase Shares How Vital It Is To Educate Our Community About Affordable Housing
Q: WHAT MOTIVATES A+ CREDIT UNION TO BE INVOLVED WITH THE HOUSE THAT CREDIT UNIONS BUILT?
A: Homeownership is a dream for almost everyone, and to be a part of making that dream a reality is such a rewarding feeling. Plus, having the opportunity to collaborate with other Austin-based credit unions shows our cooperative spirit and that’s just one more way credit unions are different!
Q: How has the affordable housing crisis impacted the work that you do?
A: More than ever, it’s vital that we educate and inform our communities on what it takes to become a homeowner, and we work diligently to find ways to make that dream a reality.

Q: WHAT TYPE OF CONNECTIONS HAVE YOU MADE DURING THIS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE OTHER CREDIT UNIONS?
A: I’ve been able to keep my connections strong with other CU leaders and make new connections with the great folks affiliated with Austin Habitat for Humanity!
Q: Which of THE SEVEN credit union COOPERATIVE PRINCIPLES ARE shared THROUGH this partnership?
A: We definitely show “cooperation among cooperatives”, and also “concern for community”, plus, “diversity, equity, and inclusion”. To the new homeowner, I believe their partnership through this build provides many examples of “education, training, and information” about what a credit union is.
