The House that Credit Unions Built
In the Fall of 2020, members of the Austin Chapter of Credit Unions and their partners are coming together to sponsor the House that Credit Unions Built! Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives and operate under seven cooperative principles. Two of those principles are cooperation among cooperatives and concern for the community. This project is a perfect example of turning words into action and Austin Habitat is grateful for this collaborative partnership.

Kirsten’s Home
Kirsten has lived with a disability for most of her life, and has thrived in the warm climate and friendly atmosphere of Austin. She has built a life here, but she was starting to worry that she wouldn’t be able to afford to stay, particularly in housing that was safe, stable and accessible for her. Working with Austin Habitat for Humanity, she has a chance to purchase an affordable home of her own that is designed for her needs, and she has thrown herself into her sweat equity work in our offices. She is grateful for the support of credit unions, their employees, and members for her home!
A donation that is meaningful provides the opportunity for your community to volunteer and engage with the Habitat homeowner on the construction site.
